INTERNATIONAL TRADE LAW (INTELAW) 3 EU This is an introductory course on the interaction between international trade policy and law. It will examine the development of GATT and WTO and the basic principles of the GATT/WTO system.
It will also address the arguments for and against free trade and the various mechanisms that affect free trade, such as bilateral and regional trade agreements, dispute settlement, and tariff and non-tariff barriers. It will also cover the GATS, the TRIPS Agreement and trade facilitation, in particular the Kyoto Agreement, and its impact on the Philippine legal framework. Finally, the course will cover the process and structure of trade negotiations in the Philippines. BASIC LEGAL RESEARCH METHOD (DOCULMG) 3 units The course is an introduction to legal research methodology designed to provide an overview of the Philippine legal system as sources of the research framework, problems and authorities, as well as the fundamental concepts, principles and theories of legal research as appropriately guided by the Handbook of Legal Citations. the Manual of Judicial Citations and the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. It also includes a discussion of the principles and legal aspects of academic honesty in research. Alumni in Legal Management are well-educated, well-versed and knowledgeable in the following disciplines: The Bachelor of Arts in Legal Management (LM) is an interdisciplinary degree program with a law-focused curriculum integrated with the essential aspects of business management. The objective of the program is to develop the study of law in the context of business management. Its ultimate goal is to develop students into leaders and managers of the twenty-first century, equipped with knowledge of management principles and business laws for good governance and listening to the globalized business environment. The courses in the programme are designed to provide students with appropriate knowledge of business laws and principles, and to enable them to develop ethical and legally sound business solutions or strategies in service of the local and global community. (PRCLMGT) 3 units The prclmgt course, which spans two semesters, first introduces students to the fundamentals of legal research using the law collection and library materials. Students are then trained in legal writing, which consists of a memorandum on a legal issue and drafts joint legal documents. In the second semester, students are deployed for a period of 200 hours to law firms, companies, or government agencies selected for on-the-job training, where they can apply the knowledge they have acquired in class. PARTNERSHIP AND SOCIETY (PARTCOR) 3 units This is an emerging study of the laws of partnership and private society.
It will focus on the legal requirements for the formation of these commercial organizations as legal entities, their powers, administration and dissolution. The rights and obligations of the members who make up the company`s organization, whether as partners, shareholders, officers or directors, are also examined.
