I`m convinced I have some kind of Gaba-B dysfunction because baclofen makes me feel normal. Agomelatine also long-term. Tianeptine too (worked for me for 18 months at low dose) But keep in mind that these are stronger drugs than “nootropics” I just took my first dive into nootropic mood enhancers. I suffer from some pretty severe anxiety that prevents me from taking care of the basic things in life like finances, self-improvement, and school. So not that I`m depressed or anything like that, but sometimes my mood goes up and down, just looking for an over-the-counter product or supplement or nootropic that actually boosts mood, helps with anxiety and stress, makes you happier than usual, etc.

I`ve tried a few randomly here and there, but I haven`t found any significant differences. -Colouracetam(7/10): This is my favorite racetam. I feel an increase in mood and a beautiful, clear and calm mind. For some reason, the sublingual version of Ceretropic is the only one from which I feel noticeable effects. I`ll probably end up buying them powder because I think I might just get bunk powder from the other seller I tried. Any supplements or nootropics you`ve tried recently that actually help improve mood? Let them down! People with this condition tend to have special interests that obsess them, and something I like to research/experiment with is nootropics.

My main goal was to keep my anxiety and mood under control, and I tried dozens and dozens of nootropics/vitamins/supplements for that reason. I`ve experimented with many other nootropics for memory/cognitive enhancement/mental acuity, but for this post, I`m going to talk about the ones that helped me with anxiety. I`ve noticed that many subscribers to this subreddit also suffer from anxiety, and a calm mind is one of the best nootropics out there IMO. Remember, what didn`t work for me might work for you and vice versa. I just realized halfway through that this is a very long article, so I`ll break it down into a few parts instead due to time constraints. Polygala certainly. Cordyceps 10:1 if you are also looking for an energy boost.

Alcar helps some people. The mood improvement has worn off for me, but I still take it because I feel like it helps with energy without feeling powerfully stimulating. It is interesting to me that we feel the need to hide our desire for safe drugs that make us happy behind the desire to be smarter, when these are mostly orthogonal goals. The anti-drug culture was really nothing but bad news for the human condition. Tianeptine sulfate for me. Sodium loses some of its effectiveness when overused, but sulfate ensures a lasting improvement in mood, even when taken frequently. I started gabapentin at 400 mg 2-3x per day. For me, gabapentin was like a miracle drug – I got rid of all my nerve pain, but after maybe a year or two, I stopped doing it? But it was really relaxing, stimulating, improving libido, and sometimes I felt like I was high, tired, or pleasantly intoxicated. I will say that it caused severe cognitive/memory problems at high doses (800 mg tid) – and some in patient groups noted these types of effects at lower doses. Phenibut (10/10): My holy grail of relieving social anxiety.

The first time I took it, it was absolutely beautiful. I was about 17 years old, working in a supermarket and grocery shopping (LOL) and dealing with terrible anxiety, especially social anxiety. Talking to clients all day made me very nervous all day and mentally exhausted at the end of the day. I tried a 1 gram dose of phenibut, and 4 hours later I felt better than ever in my life. “The world was my playground” is a quote from another Redditor that perfectly describes my experience with this substance. I flirted with the girls, echoed them, and felt excited. Like I just felt good about being alive, everyone felt like a good friend, and I was so charming/whitish/extroverted. Unfortunately, as many of you already know, these effects are not lasting with regular use and rebound anxiety is a slut. Fortunately, this led me to explore the mechanisms of action of phenibut and Gaba-B, which led to my discovery of the next substance. Phenylpiracetam: training, mood elevation, energy boost. However, it is strong and forbidden in many sports.

Phenibut. Awkward ass name, cheeky boost! Concentration and general interest in new topics are increased. However, you have to ride it by bike. Tolerance can build up quickly and I`ve heard that extracts can occur after excessive use. I`ve been on a 3-day on/off cycle for a few months now and I love it! Nothing to complain about! The biggest difference for me in terms of effect between phenibut and baclofen is that baclofen (which is a muscle relaxant) has noticeable muscle relaxant effects, whereas I have not experienced these with phenibut. The mental energy/mood enhancing effect is always present with baclofen. There is a tolerance to these effects (but the muscle relaxation effects still remain), but it is much slower than phenibut. For example, I start taking baclofen 10 mg 3 times a day. I gradually increase the dose until I am at about 20mg 3x per day. In this way, I constantly have this “big” feeling. Although it is not as intense as when I take 2-3g of phenibut or when I take 60-80mg of baclofen, for weeks I have about 3/4 of the sensation throughout the day. Then I usually stop baclofen after about a month, start taking memantine and fasoracetam for a week or 2, and then go back to baclofen 10mg 3x a day. I read that baclofen needs to be titrated again, but (in my case) I found that starting memantine/faso immediately afterwards and stopping my baclofen for a little while helps me get back to baseline.

Gabapentin produces a very similar sensation, and sometimes I take this for a few days after my baclofen cycle. Again, this is my experience with the baclofen cycle and what I found works for me with trial and error. I don`t recommend making a cold turkey after a month with 60 mg of baclofen unless you know exactly how it affects you. I`ve been lurking and I don`t think it will sound patently ignorant, but is there a nootropic that is at least a little psychoactive and challenging, comparable to say. Phenibut? Semax is also interesting, although its main function is nootropic rather than mood.

Strange. Modafinil does not affect my mood at all. Piracetam definitely made me hypomania, although we felt the need to hide our desire for safe drugs that make us happy behind the desire to be smarter. Does anyone have experience with nootropics that can reliably and consistently boost their mood/joie de vivre? -Memantine (7/10): In the first few days, I felt good about it. But both are opioid agonists and eventually cause WD symptoms. Vitamin B12 has always been useful in the non-addictive category as well as memantine. Agmatine seems to help and is an NMDA agonist. Semax seems like a mood enhancer, but it`s expensive. Many nootropics simply don`t do much in the long run, don`t rely on medication. Working on yourself by creating a daily schedule, exercise, and dieting will benefit you far more than MANY of these nootropics ever could. -Theanine (2/10): I know it`s very popular on this subreddit, but personally, I haven`t felt any noticeable effect from it. I tried Suntheanin and a few other brands as it`s quite publicized here and on similar forums, but unfortunately I`m just a non-responder personally. I would recommend trying this if you suffer from anxiety, as many people find it helps.
